Inter-village sports meet opens in Baksa with over a hundred competitors

Baksa's annual inter-village sports meet opened this week, with more than a hundred competitors from across the district taking part in athletics, kabaddi and volleyball.

"This meet doesn't just scout sporting talent — it also builds a healthy spirit of competition between villages," a district sports official said.

"We've been practising for months. I believe our village team will do well this time," a young kabaddi player said.

The best-performing athletes from the meet will be selected for a district-level training camp to prepare them for higher-level competition.

The three-day meet will close on Sunday with a prize-distribution ceremony, organisers said.
