The state's first government-run technology park, built at Jorabat on the outskirts of Guwahati, began accepting applications from startups on Monday. Nearly two years in construction, the park will offer subsidised office space and incubation support to more than fifty companies in its first intake.

Park officials say priority will go to companies working in software development, agri-tech and fintech. A rotating panel of mentors from Bengaluru and Hyderabad will run monthly workshops so that local founders can calibrate their products against a national market.

A senior official in the state IT department said the park is expected to generate close to two thousand direct jobs over three years. "We want Guwahati to be the technology hub of the Northeast, not just a satellite office town," the official said.

Several local startups have already expressed interest. The founder of a small team building a farm-produce pricing app said the park's shared infrastructure would meaningfully cut their early running costs. Applications close at the end of next month, with the first cohort expected to move in by early autumn.
