Kharmuja and Rowta XI to meet in Udalguri district football final
Much-awaited match set for Sunday as stadium gears up
Kharmuja Sporting Club and Rowta XI will meet in the final of the Udalguri district football championship this Sunday. Both teams have gone unbeaten through the sixteen-team tournament to reach the final.
"Our boys have worked hard all season. Reaching the final means a lot to us, but we're aiming for the trophy," Kharmuja's coach said.
Rowta XI's captain struck a similarly confident note. "Kharmuja is a strong side, but we're ready too. Our defence has been solid all season," he said.
The district sports association says the stadium has been arranged to seat around five thousand spectators, and local police have put special security arrangements in place for the match.
The winning side will take home the district championship trophy and go on to represent Udalguri at the state-level inter-district tournament.
