Preview: Assamese music festival returns with a wider lineup
This year's edition adds folk-fusion acts alongside established Bihu and modern Assamese performers.
An annual Assamese music festival is set to return next month with an expanded two-day lineup, mixing folk-fusion acts with established performers across genres, according to organisers.
This year's edition will include a dedicated folk-fusion stage for the first time, featuring acts that blend traditional Bihu rhythms with contemporary arrangements — a format organisers say has drawn strong interest from younger audiences at smaller regional shows.
"We wanted the festival to feel like a bridge between generations of listeners," said a member of the organising committee. "The main stage still has our established Bihu and modern Assamese acts, but the second stage is where a lot of the newer sound is happening."
Ticket sales are expected to open in the coming days, with a limited number of free community passes reserved for local college students, organisers said.
This report will be updated once the full artist lineup and schedule are confirmed.
