The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and the state government signed a fresh memorandum of understanding this week on tourism-circuit development. The agreement's central aim is to weave Bodoland's natural and cultural sites into a single, connected tourism circuit.

A senior BTC official said, "We have forests, riverside spots and traditional villages here that haven't really made it onto the tourist map yet. This agreement plans to connect them through an organised route."

In its initial phase, the plan involves investment in accommodation, training for local guides, and road connectivity. Local handicraft and food vendors are also expected to be brought into the project, creating self-employment opportunities.

A representative of the state tourism department said Bodoland's cultural diversity could become an important part of the state's tourism promotion. "We want to see Bodoland established as a major destination on Assam's tourism map," the representative said.

Under the agreement, first-phase work is expected to begin within six months. Both sides have also agreed to form a joint monitoring committee to track progress.
